Common Core Desk Plates and Library Task Cards

As I have been looking around at different desk plates- I just cannot find exactly what I want.  I ordered the Phonics Dance desk plates but they were not exactly what I thought that they would be- so I returned them.  So- I finally made my own!

I also adapted some Library task cards that I made a few years ago.  At my new district, the teachers are the "librarian" for their class.  I will have my kiddos have paper or notebooks and post-it-notes.  This gives them something to do as I check out their books.

I also have this item included for kiddos that are waiting to choose their book.  They also will hopefully have access to magazines or something else as well.  :)

FOR SOME REASON- tpt ISN'T WORKING THAT WELL!  I CAN'T UPLOAD THE LIBRARY TASK CARDS YET.

The first 5 people to comment with their email can either choose the desk plates or the library task cards for free!  Please let me know which one you want in your comment.  :)

  6. Hey Heather! I saw where you commented on Elizabeth's blog post (Fun in Room 4B) about Whole Brain Teaching. You mentioned that you use modified WBT rules in your classroom. I had a question about that. Do you have your students create the class rules on the first day, or do you create them ahead of time? Also, how do you go about having them make up gestures to go with the rules? My email is ledbetter2@marshall.edu if you have any answers to my questions. I'm new to all this! :)

    1. Hi Brittany! I'm not sure if you are talking about me (Danielle) but I have modified rules. I have the charts which I will be posting soon when I post my classroom pictures. I just dropped off rule 5 and adapted rule 3 from "Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat" to "Use Sign Language." I still teach them the gestures. For sign language they just simply use the sign for restroom, drink and wash hands. I definitely can see being able to adapt it by having the class make the rules and then make up their own gestures ahead of time. I just keep with the 4 but I can see the possibility of having the class help make the rules and going from there! If you want more clarificiation (if your message was for me) just email me at daniellelasota@gmail.com and just ask! :)
